Our Members

Students, Educators, Workers, Allies—We All Have a Home in Our Union
MTA members support students in every role and responsibility, helping ensure that the Association is as strong and diverse as the communities we serve
In countless ways, MTA members advance the cause of public education. See how they share their time, energy and expertise to help all students and educators succeed.

Aspiring Educators

SEAM, or the Student Education Association of Massachusetts, provides future teachers with opportunities for professional development and networking.

PreK-12 Members

The MTA is proud to include nearly 94,000 preK-12 educators among its membership. They represent a profession that is critical to the economic, social and educational strength of Massachusetts, a leader in public education nationally. Our teachers are committed to making sure that their students get access to the schools they deserve, and the MTA is here to provide them with the support they need to succeed as professionals.

Higher Education Faculty & Staff

The MTA represents approximately 18,000 higher education members. They work on the Amherst, Boston and Lowell campuses of the University of Massachusetts system, at nine state universities, and at 15 community colleges. Members include faculty, part-time and continuing education faculty, administrators, librarians and support staff.

Education Support Professionals

Support Professional members take care of our children every day and make sure they have the tools they need to succeed in our schools and classrooms.

Retired Members

Membership in MTA Retired and NEA Retired allows you to keep abreast of educational, political and legislative issues and stay involved.
Kristin Frazer, Worcester Education Association
We need to protect our students and our educators. If it means fighting back in courts, then that’s what we need to do.
Quote by: Kirten Frazier, Education Association of Worcester
A sign that says, “Education Is Protection.”

We Rise! Voices of Resistance & Intersectionality

Join the LGBTQ+ Committee at their inaugural summit featuring special guests, workshops, vendors and more. We will explore intersectionality and be inspired by our collective stories of resistance. Come Together to Learn, Connect & Support Our Students, Educators and Community!

Professional Learning

MTA provides high-quality professional development and union education for members and leaders. Through in-person and online training, tools, and resources, educators gain the skills and knowledge they need to grow professionally and strengthen our union.
