LGBTQ+ Summit

Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Committee, our inaugural theme is We Rise! Voices of Resistance and Intersectionality. Juneteenth

Hosted by the Ethnically Marginalized Affairs Committee, members and their families came together to honor the holiday and reflect on its historical significance. Juneteenth marks the day—June 19, 1865—when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, two months after the Confederate surrender, and informed enslaved Black people that they were free.

Climate Change Virtual Forums

These hour-long Zoom sessions explore the intersection of labor and climate activism, showing how MTA members can work together to address the impacts of global warming. Free and open to all MTA members, participants can join any or all sessions. Workshops provide practical strategies for greening schools, reducing waste, fighting climate change, and building collective power.

Bargaining Summit

In these workshops, members will discuss bargaining approaches that engage local budget processes, connect campaigns for better working and learning conditions to the local and state political context, and provide opportunities to hear from other member leaders and collaborate on local association plans.

EMAC Conference

The Ethnically Marginalized Affairs Committee Conference offers participants the opportunity to engage in discussions about white privilege and racism, ethnic and racial identity, and economic and social justice. The conference uses workshops, presentations and entertainment to inspire participants to work on ideas for action and to bring those ideas back to their locals, classrooms and communities.
