Union Skills Winter Conference

Every winter, the Division of Training & Professional Learning offers skill-building workshops for union activists and leaders.

Thank you to everyone who came to Winter Union Skills 2025!

Great day of learning, organizing, networking & connecting! We can’t wait to do it again in 2026. Special thanks to our house band, Fair Contract — made up of Newton Teachers Association members who formed quickly in January 2024— for the music! (Special shoutout for putting a union-spin on the Chappell Roan song, Hot to Go.)

Now, more than ever, we must have strong local unions ready to fight for the schools, colleges and universities that our communities deserve. This event, free to MTA members, includes a variety of workshops related to local unions' core activities.

Locals are strongly encouraged to bring a group of members to participate in different training segments based on their roles and interests. The Winter Union Skills Conference is an excellent opportunity for new activists to get energized and develop essential new skills. There will also be many opportunities for leadership development.
