Retired Delegates to Annual Meeting

MTA Statewide Retired District delegates to the MTA Annual Meeting are elected by the retired membership in conjunction with NEA RA retired delegate elections.

Nomination and election process 

MTA Statewide Retired District delegates to the MTA Annual Meeting are elected by the retired membership in conjunction with NEA RA retired delegate elections in February and March each year. The 2026 Annual Meeting will take place May 8-9 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

Who is eligible to run?

  • Nominations are open to all eligible MTA/NEA retired members through a self-nomination process.
  • The allocation of Statewide Retired District delegates and successor delegates is based on the number of MTA/NEA retired members from the Statewide Retired District on record no later than Jan. 15. Terms will last one year.

  • The nomination period will open in November and close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.

Reimbursement by the MTA

The MTA will reimburse up to $450 for eligible expenses incurred by each Statewide Retired District delegate to the Annual Meeting.

More about the election

  • The election period runs from the first Monday in February through the second Friday in March.
  • Ballots for statewide retired delegates will be provided to retired MTA/NEA members and will be accompanied by bio/statements and photos of candidates who submit them.
