The specific goals of the committee include organizing and leading efforts to enact legislation and regulatory changes, and advocate and lobby for the necessary state funding for school districts and colleges to adequately maintain and repair buildings and facilities. The committee also advocates for requiring the state to adequately maintain and repair its educational facilities; continues MTA initiatives and efforts to educate members and staff; and supports and encourages MTA locals in their efforts to demand school building health, and protection of members' and students' health.

Resource for Educators

The MTA Environmental Health and Safety Committee is pleased to present the Health and Safety Handbook. You will find tips on common health hazards experienced by educators in our work environments. It reflects knowledge by MTA members about our rights and means for collective action for improving conditions and taking ownership of our own health. As a living document, the EH&S Committee will continue to update and maintain its applicability to ever-evolving environmental challenges.
