The Medical Air Services Association, established in 1974, is a pioneer in the prepaid medical transportation industry. With 18 locations around the globe, the MASA continues to set the standard, providing protection for more than one million members dealing with medical emergencies or injuries at home, at work or while traveling the world.

The MASA provides medical emergency transportation solutions that offer peace of mind to members, who know that the financial burden that can accompany some of life’s biggest emergencies is being taken care of.

The association understands that even people with health insurance become financially vulnerable when emergencies arise that require medical transportation. All over the world, the MASA is organizing transportation and covering out-of-pocket costs for members.

Of the thousands of ground ambulance providers and hundreds of air ambulance carriers, only the MASA — a payer, not a direct provider — offers comprehensive coverage.

The most common type of claim submitted is for ground ambulance transport within a 20-mile radius of a member’s home. But over the years, the MASA has paid millions of dollars to cover air ambulance costs, saving many lives in the process. Because of increasing demand and changes in the health insurance industry, the association continues to expand its services.

The MASA also offers programs to ensure that members receive urgent care in a high-quality medical facility, and it works with the funeral industry to help families if a death occurs. The MASA’s transport solutions include working with the pre-need planning industry to provide transportation of mortal remains and peace of mind for family and friends.
