While COVID-19 has taught us many things, MTA Benefits learned early on that hundreds of members were evaluating their benefit plans and looking for solutions to fill gaps in their insurance coverage. One of those gaps may be disability insurance.

Due to increased demand, MTA Benefits negotiated another all-member open enrollment period, which is available through May 7.

Any active member working at least 18.5 hours per week can enroll for short-term or long-term disability coverage, or both. The plan is typically only available in school districts that have adopted the plan.

Disability insurance works when you can’t

After a year of fear, anxiety and uncertainty, it is time for all of us to take care of our physical and emotional well-being. The right insurance coverage can ease the stress that illness and loss of income can have on your life.

You can’t be denied coverage

During the open enrollment period, no one can be denied coverage. That means this is an ideal time to enroll. You want to make sure that your coverage is in effect before you need it.

Members can schedule an appointment to speak with an MTA Benefit Counselor by calling 866.998.2915 or visiting myenrollmentschedule.com/mta. You can also text #readysetenrollmta to 45037.
